Terms of Service
Last updated: March 2026
1. Agreement to terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Privacy Guardian password manager, browser extension, websites, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.
2. Description of the Service
Privacy Guardian is a zero-knowledge password manager that enables you to store, organize, and sync login credentials and related information across your devices. Sensitive vault data is encrypted on your device before being transmitted to our servers. The Service may include features such as password generation, breach monitoring, security insights, and browser-based autofill.
3. Eligibility and account registration
You must be legally capable of entering into a binding contract in your jurisdiction in order to use the Service. You agree to provide accurate and complete information when creating an account and to keep that information up to date. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
4. Your responsibilities
- Master password security: You are solely responsible for choosing and safeguarding your master password. Because of our zero-knowledge design, we cannot recover or reset your vault contents if you lose your master password.
- Lawful use: You agree not to use the Service for any unlawful purpose, including storing, transmitting, or managing credentials in connection with illegal activities.
- Device security: You are responsible for the security of the devices on which you install or access the Service, including keeping operating systems and browsers up to date and using appropriate anti-malware protections.
- Backup: You are responsible for maintaining any backups or exports of your data that you deem appropriate. While we aim for high availability, we do not guarantee that your data will always be accessible.
5. Acceptable use and security
You agree that you will not, and will not attempt to, do any of the following in connection with the Service:
- Bypass, interfere with, or disable any security or access control mechanisms.
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any system or network without prior written authorization.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the Service, except as permitted by law.
- Use the Service in a manner that could damage, disable, or overburden our infrastructure or that of our providers.
- Use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm others, or to violate the rights of any third party.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the Service, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe that your use violates these Terms or poses a security or legal risk.
6. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, and other content (excluding your own data), is owned by or licensed to us and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service solely for your personal or internal business purposes, in accordance with these Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service unless you have our prior written permission.
7. Data and privacy
Our collection and use of personal data in connection with the Service are described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference into these Terms. By using the Service, you also agree to the terms of the Privacy Policy.
8. Service availability and changes
We aim to provide a reliable Service but do not guarantee that it will be available at all times or free from interruptions, delays, or errors. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service at any time, for example to perform maintenance, address security issues, or improve functionality. Where reasonably possible, we will seek to provide notice of material changes that adversely affect your use of the Service.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, WE SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIM ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. While we design Privacy Guardian to enhance your security, use of a password manager does not eliminate all security risks, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized third parties will never be able to defeat our security measures.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL PRIVACY GUARDIAN OR ITS OWNERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, OR SUPPLIERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR REVENUE, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you materially breach these Terms, if we are required to do so by law, or if we discontinue the Service. On termination, your right to access the Service will cease. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including, for example, intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitations of liability) shall continue in effect.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
